Minimization of water consumption in european textile dyeing and printing industry using innovative washing and water recycling technologies (INNOWASH)

Objective

Rinsing and washing off in textile printing is mostly performed at too low temperatures and without any controlling. This results in high and unacceptable water consumption and high pollution. Within this project, the innovative hot washing technology will be verified and applied together with very efficient online controlling methods, which will particularly enable economic recycling of process water in textile printing. The required washing and controlling technologies as well as recycling techniques will be developed and verified with respect to significant water saving and high quality products. The new washing techniques will be applied under real process conditions and coupled with membrane filtration techniques. The optimisation of the developed techniques will guarantee water saving up to 90%, which will bring benefits to the whole European textile industry. Particularly, the European water quality will benefit most.
