Objective
Major parts of the water distribution networks in European cities are now approaching the end of their useful lives. Pipelines are deteriorating in an accelerating way. Bursts, leakage and complaints on water quality and service reliability increase. The water utilities have to make decisions on how to maintain an acceptable standard of service, when information is uncertain and budgets are restricted. The ultimate goal of this project is to provide an integrated, generic suite of tools for solving these problems. The system includes the forecasts of both the deterioration processes and the effects of rehabilitation decisions in the short and the long range.
