Evaluation of the effect of the ippc application on the sustainable waste management in textil industries (TOWEFO)

Objective

Dir.CE 61/96 is going to be implemented in all European Countries for textile industries. Most of BAT might implement closed-loop options for water usage. Water consumption will decrease because of the growing water charge related to the scarcity of water. The objective is to establish a good environmental practice multicriteria integrated implementation and water saving strategies in textile finishing processes, taking into account the effluent treatment and the impact of the discharge to the water- recipient bodies. Integration of Water Pinch Technology and Waste Water Design for sustainable management of textile finishing wastewater; LCA user friendly software tool to evaluate the environmental impact of different textile finishing water re-use, recycling and treatment and for the optimal use of resources; regulatory police which includes "externalities" will be set up.
