Objective
Improving the efficiency of existing wastewater treatment plants at low or moderate costs is central task of European environmental industry. Objective of the project is the introduction of new innovative technologies into the wastewater industry: Low-cost microelectronic silicon sensors in combination with self adaptive software systems like Neural Networks are able to improve dramatically the efficiency of wastewater treatment plants by optimal control strategies. The new technology will be well accepted by the end-users because the control algorithms are self-learning and self-optimising. The partners expect for the wastewater works integrated in this project an average decrease in energy consumption of about 10% and a decrease of the peak concentrations of typical water contamination like NO_3-N and NH_4-N in the outlet of about 20%.
