Objective
Determination of economical and applicable treatment methodology which satisfies the water requirements for some of the processes in the textile industry will be investigated. Physicochemical and biological methods in combination with the advanced treatment alternatives will be applied. Local wastewater management techniques will be developed. Consequently, the innovative methodology will contribute not only waste minimization aspect but overall cost management of the textile plant positively by reducing water consumption and the amount of wastewater to be treated as well as minimum solid waste consumption and the optimum recovery. Furthermore, it is recommended to investigate the chemicals used within the plant with regard to identification of the environmentally harmful ones and investigates the possibility to replace then with their alternatives. The specific objective can be summarized as follows: Determination of applicable and economical treatment technologies which satisfy the criteria and allow reuse of effluent. The following methodology are planned to be carried out within the framework of the project. Phase 1: Development of unified methodology for basic data collection and evaluation (production processes, water usage, wastewater generated), conventional wastewater characterization and pollution profiles. Phase 2: Physicochemical and biological in situ wastewater treat ability studies, determination of kinetic parameters.
