Management of fluvial waterways : ecological effects of groyne construction types

Objective

We want to assess the ecological effects of an innovative type of groyne used for bank protection on the River Elbe, compared to the conventional type. In co-operation with civil engineers, construction characteristics will be worked out in order to mitigate the adverse effects of bank protection in navigable rivers on invertebrate diversity.
