Environmental biotechnology research centre

Objective

The main goal of Demeter project is the creation of Environmental Biotechnology Centre with R&D potential adjusted to the high European level and to the economic and social needs of the region of Upper Silesia and being a leading centre in environmental biotechnology in Poland. The Centre will increase its R&D potential by acquiring co-treatment techniques and ecotoxicological risk assessment knowledge within twinning arrangements with 2 European centres, established contacts with other EU and Eastern European partners and Ph.D students exchange. The Centre proposes organising international conference on "Soil and Groundwater Bioremediation" as a platform for knowledge and experience exchange among European specialists in environmental biotechnology. The post-graduated studies and workshop in ecotoxicology as well as the different courses on EU law will ensure the Centre position of the leading training centre in the region.
