Global change open science conference

Objective

The Global Change Open Science Conference is a major 4-day scientific meeting to be held in Amsterdam, 10-13 July 2001. It is expected to attract 1500 scientists, policy people and resource managers. The central objectives are:
-(i) To present the results of the last decade of global change research, emphasising the results of the IGBP synthesis project of the last two years and collaborative research with IHDP and WCRP.
-(ii) To discuss and evaluate these results and to disseminate this to the wider public, including policy makers.
-(iii) To identify the gaps and the priority issues for continuation of the international programmes. European scientists will have a prominent role in both the presentations and in identifying key issues for the future research agenda, relevant for FP6 and for the development of the European Research Area.
