A new and innovative meteorological profiling system based on wavelet technology for radar and acoustic devices

Deliverables

Accurate wind measurement is of particular importance for all kinds of meteorological forecasting with all its economic and social consequences. At present classical airborne systems as, e.g., balloons or aircrafts are about to be replaced by ground based sytems as SODAR or the emerging Radar Wind Profiler (RWP). But inadequate data processing must still be considered the most important shortcoming, which inhibits a wide implementation of these devices. The basic need is the development of an improved data analysis, which allows a reliable reconstruction of three dimensional measurement of widespread wind fields. Thus the consortium aimed at providing a RWP, which delivers continuously reliable wind profiling data under all weather conditions. Scintec will integrate the MEPROS toolbox in its equipment and market it with their products. Scintec will market the MEPROS toolbox with their RWP products for the following countries: Germany. The usage of the MEPROS toolbox will improve the data quality of scintec's RWP-devices in a way that provides scintec a competitive edge in the market. More information on the MEPROS project can be found at: http://www.mepros.de/
Partner METEK will integrate the MEPROS toolbox in its equipment and market it with their products. METEK will market the MEPROS toolbox with their SODAR products for the following countries: Germany. The usage of the MEPROS toolbox will improve the data quality of METEKs SODAR-devices in a way that provides METEK with a competitive edge in the market. More information on the MEPROS project can be found at: http://www.mepros.de/
Partner BIRAL will integrate the MEPROS toolbox in its equipment and market it with their products. BIRAL will market the MEPROS toolbox with their products for the following countries: Great Britain. The usage of the mepros toolbox will improve the data quality of BIRALs products in a way that provides BIRAL with a competitive edge in the market. More information on the MEPROS project can be found at: http://www.mepros.de/
EED will receive profiling equipment with the new integrated MEPROS toolboxes for use in EED from (METEK or SCINTEC). The acquired equipment will be used in the planning and establishing of offshore windparks. The usage of MEPROS value-added devices will lead to more precise selections of wind park locations, thus improving the energy exploit of future wind parks.
