Objective
The present proposal is addressed to the organisation of the 32nd International Geological Congress (IGC). 32nd IGC will be held 20-28 August 2004 in Florence, Italy, in cooperation with and under the scientific sponsorship of the IUGS. The venue was decided by vote of the Council and ratified by the General Assembly of the 31st Congress that met in Rio de Janeiro in August 2000. The Congress is designed to create a forum for the broad debate of the most significant advances in the geological sciences, to foster new ideas and models for implementing a close interplay between pure science and its applications and to promote discussion of the Congress theme: The Renaissance of Geology: From the Mediterranean area toward a global Geological Renaissance-Geology, Natural Hazards, and Cultural Heritage".
