Development of non-degrading, novel marine technologies for the sustainable exploitation and protection of mediterranean marine resources (NOMATEC)

Objective

A novel clean technology to form hard structures in situ on the sea bed and the identification of bioactive substances in sponges are basic innovations.

They will be:
1) further developed and;
2) linked together on the application level in designing ecologically suitable mariculture units for pharmaceutical target species. Another application of the technology is the fixation and restoration of Posidonia sea grass beds. Special sponge derived compounds will be processed towards medical use. Market analyses connect basic research, application level and end users. Ecological surveys and impact assessments secure the non degrading feature of all activities and processes.
The actual outcome meets the expectations thus the list of the expected deliverables can be copied to this chapter. To all aspects mentioned results and deliverables were achieved.
