Sand transport and morphology of offshore sand mining pits/areas

Objective

The project aims to improve and extend the current knowledge of sand transport and morphology related to offshore sand mining pits/areas. This will be undertaken by integrating:
- the existing and new experiences, including data sets, on sand transport and morphology of lower shore faces systems in the North Sea (and other basins),
- the results of new detailed field experiments (test pit in North Sea) and laboratory experiments on sand transport and morphological processes for better understanding of physical processes and generation of a high-quality data set for validation of hydrodynamic, sand transport and morphodynamic models,
- the results of modern validated morphodynamic models for short-term and medium-term predictions of morphology related to sand mining pits/areas, as used by the leading European hydraulic research institutes.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
