Centre of excellence for shelf seas science

Objective

The shelf seas of Europe encompass a large range of marine environments, from the coastal zone to the shelf-edge. All these shelf waters are not adequately represented in the networking programmes among EU countries and NAS. The Institute of the Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IOPAS) addresses this problem by creation of the Centre of Excellence for Shelf Seas Science (CeSSS) at the Institute, integration of the Centre activity with the European Research Area, and creation of the Network of Excellence in Shelf Seas Science. CeSSS propose to strengthen co-operation among leading centres and bridging the Western and Eastern European shelf seas experts by:
1) the co-ordination of the research network with other countries,
2) the visits of research fellows,
3) the training of PhD students, post-doctoral research,
4) twinning with similar centres in Europe,
5) study visits to other institutions

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
