Objective The overall aim of the proposal is to create and develop a leading Centre in marine sciences, with special emphasis on the Baltic region. The Centre will operate as a part of the Institute of Oceanography, University of Gdansk and on the basis of already established contacts with other European research centres. It is apparent that in Central Europe the co-operation among different institutions dealing with the problems of marine environment is not sufficient. BALTDER intends to strengthen the links with national and international research centres and improve the acquisition and flow of data on the functioning of marine ecosystem and its sustainable development The ambition of the Centre is to stimulate and develop education in marine sciences at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD levels and in line with the EU standards. The Centre will implement new educational and research programmes with a more utilitarian approach Programme(s) FP5-EESD - Programme for research, technological development and demonstration on "Energy, environment and sustainable development, 1998-2002" Topic(s) 1.1.4.-3. - Key action Sustainable Marine Ecosystems Call for proposal Data not available Funding Scheme ACM - Preparatory, accompanying and support measures Coordinator UNIVERSITY OF GDANSK EU contribution No data Address Al.
