Objetivo
Over the last twenty years consumer demand has led to the development of a range of new upholstery leathers for both motor cars and furniture. These are softer than traditional materials, they have a more uniform surface finish and technical performance. However, this has resulted in products with different physical and organoleptic properties and a very different appearance. Reupholstering antique furniture or the seats of classic or vintage motor cars or carriages from the eighteenth century with these modern leathers does not give an aesthetically acceptable result. The aim of this project is to produce a range of leathers, which combine some of the improved physical and chemical characteristics found with modern products together with the organoleptic, physical and visible properties of the traditional materials. For this purpose, development of suitable processing systems to give the desired blend of leather properties will be undertaken.
