Objective
The project focusses on development, test and application of instruments, technology and software for high-resolution study of brown fields (contaminated and waste disposal) sites. Effective, safe and low-cost methods include geophysical techniques (GPR, EM, Resistivny, Multi-Component Seismics), sampling and laboratory analysis to calibrate geophysical data. Definition of guidelines and conditions for effective use of proposed technology and evaluation of applicability and costs are additional deliverables. End-user partners (EUP) will apply technology at selected sites characterized by different typologies of contamination or past use of land and will verify it through results of surveys carried out in this programme. EUP will also examine cost reduction of proposed technology in reconstructing 3-D subsurface model of use in planning site remediation. The research will further focus on imaging aquifers and their connections with nearby brown fields or industrial sites.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
