Objective
One of the biggest problems facing every municipality is to determine the impact of a single event on multiple aspects of city operation and development. For instance, an investment into an industrial area or a business park will make an impact on the need for housing, transport, retail, education, health care, crime prevention, and everything else, but it is not easy to determine what kind of impact. At present, there are no tools to analyse such complex interactions, and therefore it is difficult for municipalities to achieve sustainable city planning and rational management of resources. To solve this problem, the project will apply the Science of Complexity as the basis for analysis of cities, and will develop a process and software tools for analysis and simulation cities as complex systems - a City Analysis Simulation Tool (CAST), in close collaboration with municipalities and other potential beneficiaries.
