Objective
The project addresses the issues of decontaminating polluted buildings, structures and materials, and demolition waste recycling in urban renewal. The problem is that the contamination of buildings inhibits the recycling of rubble waste and the rehabilitation of old houses, and contaminated waste materials require disposal at controlled landfills. The scale of the problem at the European level is of an economic magnitude of billions of Euro. The objective of this proposal is to develop a toolbox ("City Concept") for solving the problem, comprising improved technologies, concepts and code of good practice through an integrated approach involving stakeholders of the urban renewal process in 11 European countries. The results will be applicable for exploitation and implementation immediately after the end of the project.
