Objective
The Department of Economic Geography at the University of Gdansk achieved the leading role among the national and NAS urban studies centres, introducing the social approach into the Polish urban studies. The Department has developed intense contacts with European urban research centers. The created Research and Education Centre for Urban Socio-Economic Development (RECOURSE) will foster those ties and better integrate the research within ERA. The proposed package of measures as networking with European institutions, twinning with a fellow centre in Europe, joint workshops, conference, visiting fellows, training for PhD and post-doctoral researches will enhance the research and education capacity of the Centre. The RECOURSE will play a role of the bridge between EU and other NAS institutions in transferring, promoting and disseminating the results of co-operation in the area of sustainable urban development.
