The airborne platform for earth observation infrastructure

Objective

THE AIRBORNE PLATFORM FOR EARTH OBSERVATION INFRASTRUCTURE (APE-INFRA) is a programme set up to manage the upgrading of the Geophysical, the only stratospheric aircraft available for the European scientific community, and to perform a scientific demonstration campaign. In this proposal we request funding in order to substantially improve the quality of, and access to, the Geophysica facility. This will be pursued by improving the aircraft-instrument interface, expanding the user base, improving the sensors for the measurement of meteorological parameters, and consolidating the management. We propose to demonstrate the capabilities of the improved facility in a campaign, which will make unprecedented comprehensive measurements of chemicals related to ozone depletion over Europe.
