Objective
The objectives of the project are :
- to gain information on the life cycle analysis of specific wood products and wood
raw material by means of product definition, scoping studies, inventory analysis
and initial impact assessment (the specific wood products will be a structural
beam, a window frame (and out of ground contact wood), wood for flooring,
two wood based panel products, wood in ground contact, wood as raw material,
equivalent non-wood products will be included for comparison from literature
sources);
- to compare methodologies and combine the life-cycle analyses from the
different partners into a consistent approach from all partners;
- to investigate the use of a knowledge transfer system for the life cycle analysis
of wood products and for comparison between products and between wood
and non-wood products and for future comparison between products and
between wood and non-wood products.
The work is described as follows :
- the final product specification will be agreed and specified, agreement on the
LCA methodology will be made and the output requirements for the knowledge
system will be simplified;
- existing information on the LCAs of products will be reviewed and collected;
- missing information on the LCAs of wood products that must be determined
with the project will be identified;
- a knowledge system for product LCA will be developed and the initial information
will be incorporated into this system;
- new LCA data for products will be developed;
- the new information will be incorporated into the knowledge system;
- the LCA data will be validated and compared against the results of the
knowledge system;
- results of the LCAs will be presented in the participating countries.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
