The increasing demand for recreational and environmental services can harmful pressure on the sustainability of ecosystems and the economy of forest enterprises. Market solutions to this problem would generate income to the land-owners and at the same time regulate the use of forests.
The objective is : to analyse cases of marketable recreational and environmental services (RES) of forests and to develop a framework for better marketing of such outputs.
Short description of the project :
Proposal will create tools and structures that can generate income from the production of "products" which has traditionally been considered "public goods" ("multiple purpose forestry" - environment and amenity). A framework for multifunctional and market orientated forest management will be developed (marketing stategies & tools, business organisation, project management). Property rights and policy implications are also to be addressed.
