Exploitable results

The project concerns the development of integrated and ecological outdoor horticultural farming systems that are more sustainable in agronomic, environmental, ecological and economic terms and that ensure high quality products, minimizing environmental and health risks while still meeting the market demands. Prototypes of integrated and ecological horticultural, region-specific farming systems have been designed and will be tested and improved. These prototypes combine the demands of society in terms of sustainable production and the market in terms of quality production. The prototypes are among others useful for development of policy for rural areas. Multi-objective farming methods that enable integration of potentially conflicting objectives like economy and ecology have been developed and will be tested. The farming methods concern crop rotation, fertilization and crop protection. These methods can improve the consistency, quality and level of the current production labels and guidelines used by the farming industry, research, extension and education.
