Objective
The objective of the first project (contract No. FI2D-0055) was to realise the prototype of the gamma camera "ALADIN" which allows to superimpose the visible field with eventually present gamma sources in nuclear installations. This scope has been reached. The objective of the supplementary research consists to improve the camera handling performances and the image software. These improvements will widen the application possibilities of the device.
First of all, a handling device will be developed and realised in order to install and position the camera properly in irradiated areas.
Adaptation of a distance detector to the camera which, in combination with the measured intensities, will allow the camera software to calculate the source intensities.
Software improvements of the gamma camera performances in the following way:
- optimization of its resolution by modifying the collimator geometry,
- optimization of the signal/noise ratio by cooling the whole device;
- enhancing the visual field image.
Methodological approach to quantify dose levels by non-punctual sources.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
