Methods ro reconcile disparate national forecasts of medium and long-range atmospheric dispersion

Objective

This project will improve decision support for medium/long range radioactive atmospheric dispersion affecting Europe. Its objective is to devise and implement new practical methods across Europe for enhancing the confidence in predictions and to establish common reconciliation methods for managing disparate forecasts, with associated uncertainties. The goal will be achieved by establishment of a new Web-based decision support tool, by which available national forecasts will be combined in real-time into one single European "ENSEMBLE" forecast. The project will establish agreements and procedures for the exchange, managing and reconciliation of disparate national forecasts during a European-scale accident. The project will result in improved "best estimates" including qualification of a particular forecasts uncertainty. The proposed Web tool "ENSEMBLE" will be installed in European emergency centres for operational use.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
