Objective
A previous Concerted Action demonstrated the extensive capability of Airborne Gamma Spectrometry (AGS) teams within Europe to generate maps of deposition over very large areas in emergency timescales. Protocols for dose rate and radionuclide deposition mapping were produced to enhance the consistency and quality of the data produced by AGS systems. An international intercalibration trial will be conducted to validate these protocols and improve communication, cooperation and data transfer between teams. Research conducted by individual teams that may produce improved methodologies and equipment will be monitored, and the possibilities for future research discussed.
