Objective
The proposal aims to develop a practical and systematic system for rapid assessment of the source term, crucial in management of a nuclear emergency. The objectives are to develop a generic source term estimation system, which uses plant data with interfaces for users to input plant specific data and transfer source term data to a decision support system for emergency response. It will be customized for application to a number of reactor designs representative of the operating plants in the European Union and Applicant countries. Additional functions will be as a training tool to assist plant operators and technical support centre staff in understanding the potential impact of accident management measures and likely consequences in the form of source terms. The system will provide a link achieving an effective interaction between plant control room staff and emergency control centre staff.
