Objective
Within the 4th EC framework programme "Nuclear Fission Safety" two databases have been further developed providing detailed information on dismantling, recycling and decontamination techniques and tools (FI4D-CT95-0004) as well as data on costsand dose rates (FI4D-CT95-0003). Within the project FI4D-CT96-0010 possible network implementations to access both databases via Internet were investigated and implemented and a web site on the European activities in the field of decommissioning with the main purpose to give the public an understanding of this subject was developed. Within EC-DB-NET2 the databases EC-DB-COST and TOOL as well as the Decommissioning Web Site shall be maintained, updated and further developed as an essential part of a sustainable European decommissioning information network based on information technology which aims at combining the operational experience and know-how needed for a safe and reliable future decommissioning.
