European Nuclear Engineering Network

Objective

Conditions for maintaining high quality education and research in support of nuclear energy operations and development are becoming less favourable. The number of universities that provide nuclear courses is decreasing. The nuclear sector seems to have difficulties attracting people from the young generation. International co-operation between universities, research institutes and industry has the potential to help in this regard. The objectives of the proposal are to produce a handbook defining the major elements for a European nuclear engineering network and to perform pilot education sessions. Starting from the needs and the state of the art, requirements will be defined for a global network strategy including education curricula, entrance education prerequisites, teachers profiles, links with international organisations, industry and the public sector. Pilot experiments will be performed to support the feasibility study.

The objectives of the proposal are to produce a handbook, proposing a global network strategy, defining the major elements for a European network for nuclear engineering education and to perform pilot sessions on European nuclear education. The concerted action is a step towards farther-reaching objectives e.g.- conservation and management of the nuclear knowledge and expertise- the creation of a European higher education space as part of the European Research Area- the integration of "New Joiners" in the EU.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
