Objectif
It is proposed to extend the work of contract no. ERBCHBICT 930883. Experiments will be carried out to observe the behaviour of connections in multi-story steel frames at elevated temperatures. Pairs of frames will be tested at various temperature conditions and connection behaviour will be observed, to obtain data on:-
the restraint against collapse provided by one load bearing element to another; the development of plastic collapse mechanisms in members; and their importance in providing and maintaining reliable load paths throughout the structure.
The data accumulated will be used to extend the model CUEFD so that it can analyse assembly behaviour at elevated temperatures.
Objectives: Continue tests on pairs of frames in elevated temperature conditions Complete extension of the model CUEFD to allow for the behaviour of steel in fire conditions. Model heat flow from a fire source into the building structure using time-domain FE analysis, and include the results into CUEFD data. | Prepare doctoral thesis and papers for publication.
