Neutron scattering studies of the dynamics and orientation of small molecules in simple zeolites and ionic hydrates

Objective

The aim of this project is to determine the effect of cations, anions and the aluminosilicate framework on the dynamics and orientation of small guest molecules in simple zeolites and hydrates. The techniques used will be quasielastic neutron scattering, inelastic neutron scattering and neutron diffraction. Systems studied will be with molecules such as ammonia, methane, water, oxygen and nitrogen in small-pored zeolites such as analcimes, sodalite, Na-A zeolites and also ionic hydrates. It is anticipated that the results from simple model systems will enable a greater understanding of the relative strengths of hydrogen bonding and cation bonding and will be applicable to more industrially relevant zeolite systems, such as those used in sewage treatment and gas purification.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
