Electron energy loss spectroscopy on intercalation compounds

Objective

The home institution of the applicant is a leader in the intercalation chemistry. In order to better understand the intercalation process, especially in terms of electronic exchange, it becomes essential to use accurate band structure calculations and to support them by experimental data. Spectroscopies involving occupied and unoccupied electronic states and the Fermi level (XAFS, EELS, XPS) are of special interest. The home institution already has a good expertise in XAFS, but a very few knowledge in EELS. In a near future, a powerful equipment will be available in the home institution and it will be essential to surround it by well trained researchers. The project is to provide Dr Moreau with a good knowledge in this technique. Experiments will be performed on intercalated compounds prepared in Nantes. After this stay the home institution would be able to offer Dr Moreau a permanent position.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
