Objective
When looking for improving the energy efficiency in the field of the windowst silica monolithic aerogel appears as a unique material presenting both a low thermal conductivity and a good light transparency. For the application a couple of problems have to be solved to achieve the goal of manufacturing a double glazin filled w-ith monolithic aerogel. Thus, in order to design the ideal aerogel window, the purpose of thts project isF based on the motivation to understand the relationship between the structural parameters and the optical properties of aerogel. Up to now, we have applied neor high-performed characterization tools (A.F.M. USAXS) furnishing key-information on aerogel structure. This project has the basic goal to correlate this information and to apply theoretical consideratio in order to predict the ideal material configuration for window designing. Its originality lies in putting together microscopic range results and macroscopic optical data, ftnding in this link the key for understanding and then improving the aerogel.
