Objective
Objectives:
1) Determination in polydentate amino acids of highest activation cente reactivity tc metal cations.
2) Accurate determination of binding energies.
3) Structural analysis of ion-amino acid complexes formed with comparative study of differences created by cation nature.
We propose important amino acids (serine, cisteine, lysine) present in cellular exchanges, with the peculiarity of having amino and acid groups and a third functional group that can be attacked by the ion. We shall study reactions with alkaline cations present in this media (Li+, Na+, K+) and will extend to transition metal cations (Fe+, Co+, Ni+) which besides adduct complexation also present insertion and elimination reactions, and other (Cu+, Ag+, Au+) that present dissociative mechanisms.
The project will be carried out from both experimental (using mass spectroscopy with magnetic quadrupolar section) and theoretical points of view, by using ab-initio methods with density functional theory and multiconfigurational methods when needed.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
