Development and application of high performance ultrasonic resonator systems for splitting of emulsions

Objective

The proposed project is focused on the ultrasonic splitting of emulsions into the two liquid phases. This is an especially promising approach, since the liquid particles, ones coagulated, remain stable as a homogenous phase which can be separated easily and permanently by gravitational forces. The main objectives of the proposed research project are:
(a) The further development and understanding of the acoustic coagulation and separation effect as well as the stimulation of innovative alternatives in the process and waster water treatment including recycling of the separated phases.
(b) The development and application of novel high performance ultrasonic resonator chambers for splitting of oil-in-water emulsions
The training content comprises:
(1) The numerical investigation of the influence of all system parameters on the magnitude of the forces.
(2) The theoretical analysis and design of different concepts of appropriate piezoelectric composite resonator chambers.
