Objective
Many physical systems are modeled by discrete chains of oscillators coupled together in various ways.
When the mathematical description involves non linearity (the response to several combined excitation is not a simple superposition of the response to each stimuli) the system exhibits remarkable properties. Among them, localization of energy is very often observed.
This feature is believed to be a key concept to understand various unsolved problems in both physics and biology.
The present project is aimed at understanding the nature of localization (creation and evolution) by means of analytical methods.
