Characterisation of chiral gels by capillary electrophoresis

Objectif

The incorporation of various chiral molecules in hydrophobically modified polymeric gels will constitute the first step of the study. Depending on the type of interactions (electrostatic, hydrophobic) governing the partition of these molecules in the gels, along with the ability of micellar aggregates to be present in the gel lattices, the separation of ionic and neutral optical isomers will be studied and modelled. The understanding of the separation process will be carried out as a function of the usual operating parameters of Capillary Electrophoresis The second approach of the study will consists in the synthesis and the characterisation of chirally modified-gels synthesised from the copolymerisation of modified and unmodified units.
The ability of the synthesised gels to separate enantiomeric solutes as a function of various physico-chemical parameters (degree of modification, crosslinkage...) will be studied.
