Field theory dynamics in cosmology and high energy physics

Objective

The objective of the proposal is the real-time description of the dynamics of out of equilibrium phase transitions in cosmology and gauge theories. The main tool which will be used to perform such a study is the Closed-Time-Path generating function In cosmological phase transitions the project focuses on the process of domain formation and growth in an expanding spatially flat Universe se and on the thermalization via collisions during Reheating. Some of these problems are relevant in the description of heavy ion collisions. In gauge theories the main content of the proposal is to study the dynamics of the higgs mechanism. The same methods will be applied to analyze the time evolution of non-trivial gauge configurations in non-Abelian gauge theories. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) The applications of this research will be in cosmology, particle and statistical physics, thus making the program truly interdisciplinary. The understanding of the formation and evolution of instabilities, particle and entropy production and thermalization can have an impact and experimental consequencies especially in cosmology and heavy ion collisions.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
