Complex systems in external fields

Objective

The present project is to be viewed as an extension of the HCM-project entitled: "Atoms and Molecules in strong external fields" (Contract No. ERBCHBICT941122). There are three main activities within this project which complete the previous HMC-project:
(1) An analysis of the numerical results obtained for the energy spectrum of the hydrogen molecule and the helium atom in a strong magnetic field. Calculation of the energy spectrum for higher excited states and performance of an energy level statistics to look for the transition from regularity to chaos.
(2) Quantum mechanical treatment of a dynamical model systems with coupling between the center of mass and internal relative motion in an external magnetic field.
(3) Further development of a new method (turning point analysis) to analyse fully developed chaotic dynamics. Extension to a semiclassical treatment of complex systems. Application of this method to dynamical systems resulting from the non-perturbative sector of non abelian gauge theories.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
