Objective
The objective of the proposed project is to contribute to the development of new concepts for the design of reinforced concere multistorey buildings for earthquake resistance, which could ultimately be used in the revision of European Prestandard ENV- 1998 "Eurocode 8: Design Provisions for Earthquake Resistance of Structures", Part 1.2 "General Rules - General Rules Buildings" and Part.1.3. Section 2 "Specific Rules for Concrete Buildings". The emphasis will be placed on the development provisions and guidelines for the detailed design or assessment of reinforced concrete buildings and of their members, explicity on the basis of inelastic deformations and displacements, to replace the -current approach of elastic force-based seismic design and assessment. The project contribution will be m the development and implementation both of the general methodology the structure design or assessment and of the detailed application rules for member detailing, as well as in the design laboratory tests to check the validity of the proposals to be developed. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
Significant benefits will be derived from the cooperation with leading experts in earthquake engineering and European seismic code development, especially on a topic at the forefront of earthquake engineering innovation.
