Dimerisation and membrane anchors as glycopeptide antibiotic targeting devices

Objective

Research objectives and content The phenomenon of resistance to antibiotic action in pathogenic bacteria is a serious threat to human health. In such cases, the antibiotics of last resort to the clinician are the glycopeptides vancomycin and teicoplanin. Having determined the restructures and what is currently known about the molecular basis of action of these antibiotics, we now propose to advance further our knowledge of the mode of action. Training content (objective, benefit anc expected impact) The applicant will improve her skills in organic synthesis and will adquire experience in multi- dimensional NMR techniques. Also will learn about the mode of action of antibiotics and their study is miscellar models. Links with industry, industrial relevance (22) This work may be very interesting in pharmaceutical industry on the development of new antibiotics against Gram-positive bacterial infection resistant to know antibiotics.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
