Optical studies of carrier dynamics in v-groove quantum wires and quantum dots

Objectif

The project aims to provide a detailed understanding of V-groove quantum wires and quantum dots, so growth and processing techniques can be optimised. These techniques will be used for the development of devices such as transistors and lasers. Further on laser structures based on V-groove quantum wires will be investigated.
Several methods of modern optical spectroscopy such as cw and time-resolved photoluminescence, absorption, Raman spectroscopy and near field optical microscopy will be applied in order to ascertain information on electron states, electron-hole recombination and the role of electron hole correlation and carrier-phonon and carrier-carrier scattering in V-groove quantum wire structures.
The work will be done in the framework of a co-operative effort between Clarendon Lab., Oxford, and the Institute for Thin Film and Ion Technology (ISI), Research Centre Juelich GmbH, Germany. The research group at ISI works on growth, patterning and electrical characterisation of V-groove quantum wires and quantum dots.

Champ scientifique (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classe les projets avec EuroSciVoc, une taxonomie multilingue des domaines scientifiques, grâce à un processus semi-automatique basé sur des techniques TLN.
