Electron density studies of laser-induced excited states in crystals by means of x-ray synchrotron radiation crystallographic techniques

Objective

The aim of the proposal is to perform X-ray synchrotron radiation diffraction and absorption studies of laser-induced excited states in crystals in order to study the electron density distribution, the geometry and the excitation mechanisms of electronic excited states. As a first attempt we propose to study the K2((NO2),(0H)(NO)) metastable excited state I, aiming to apply the technique to luminescent and non-linear optical compounds with shorter excited state life-time.
