Despite the high sensitivity of burning-processes to temperature, and hence to energy exchanges, radiative transfer (R.T.) was often neglected, or handled in an averaged way, in treatments of combustion problems, due to its nonlinear, nonlocal, spectral and multidimensional features. Only recently did simplified models allow to take up the local and/or dynamical radiation- combustion couplings. Much remains to be done however. Our programme for a Post-Doctoral period at the ETSIA of Madrid (Prof. A.Linan) aims at improving our understanding of the influences of
radiation/combustion interactions: - on the propagation of premixed flames in participating media and the nature of end products, - on the structure of tripple flames in mixing layers, - on the extinction of diffusion flames and pollutant formation.
