Objetivo
Research objectives and content
1. The preparation of novel ileterobimetallic complexes containing an early transition metal centre (Ti, Zr, Y) and a late transition metal centre (Ru, Rh Ir, Pd) and their full characterisation (preferably by single crystal X-ray diffraction).
2. The testing of these complexes for catalytic activity in various carbonylation reactions ( hydroformylation, alkoxycarbonylation, aminomethylation, CO-alkene copolymerisation ) .
3. The analysis of the organic products of the carbonylation reactions and the determination of the fate of the catalyst precursor.
4. The correlation of catalytic activity with the structure of the catalyst precursor.
5. The optimisation of the most successful catalytic systems. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
The applicant will be fully trained in the techniques of catalytic testing and in the operation of the autoclave facilitv at INP-ENSCT, as well as in other techniques necessary to fulfil the research objectives. This training will allow the applicant to fully utilise his skills in coordination chemistry in application to the growing field of homogeneous catalysis.
Links with industry / industrial relevance (22)
Carbonylation reactions, especially hydroformylation, are of great industrial importance for the preparation of bulk chemical precursors, plasticisers, detergents and perfumes. The host laboratory has close links with Rhone-Poulenc Chimie for new developments in fine chemicals. It also has links with several other companies (Rhone-Poulenc Agro, Firmenich, DRT, BP, Elf-Atochem).
