High power tunable semiconductor laser diode research

Objective

Researeh objectives and content
The research objectives are to train a post-doctoral fellow in high brightness, high power laser technology by developing new high brightness, high power tunable laser diode sources for application in
teleeommunieations and industnal process monitoring areras, The research project will entail both laser diode design and characterisation, and novel external cavity research and development for enhanced wavelength tunabilitylmla emission power and brightness. The utility of the developed i, laser will be assessed by demonstrating enviromnental monitoring and blue light generation by frequency doubling. | Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
This proposed objective is to train the candidate in the technology of high power laser diode system development. It will benefit from the growing communications and industrial process control business sectors. The project will impact the sectors by the prevision both of a highly trained technologist and new technology in tunable laser systems.
Links with industry / industrial relevance (22)
This project is strategic to European industrial competitiveness in optical communications and industrial process control. The training laboratory has strong ongoing links with industries in these technology access which will lead to rapid deployment of the developed technology.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
