Objective
Research objectives and content
Aim of this investigation is the synthesis of phosphido functionalized cyclopentadienyl group 4 metal complexes which are active in polymerisation of alpha-olefins.
The replacement of one cyclopentadienyl moiety in ansa-metallocenes by pendent anionic phosphido functionality results in complexes which are, equal to their amido congeners, thought to be isolobal to
ansa-metallocenes. The innovative aspects of using a phosphido functionality are combining the electronic properties of the cyclopentadienyls with the steric properties of the amido functionalized cyclopentadienyl ligand. The dichloro and bis carbyl complexes of the group 4 metals synthesized, will be examined on their activity in olefin polymerisation catalysis with respect to the desired ligand parameters. Figure 1. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
A postdoc position will enable me to develop my skills in organometalli chemistry and polymer chemistry. The challenges of this field of chemistry, in academic sence, in combination with its great industrial potential would give me a good opportunity to broaden my scope. The results of this project will enhance our knowledge about the relation between activity and stereoselectivity of the catalysts and the polymers produced.
