Development and application of remote sensing techniques and geographic information systems for designing environmentally sustainable land-use systems - ii)

Objective

Research objectives and content
The proposed project consists of a land evaluation assessment in the Ebro delta using remote sensing techniques and geographic information systems. The objective of the research is to identify and quantify the main factors limiting rice production as well as, an integrated environmental study of the landuse management alternatives. First of all, special emphasis was made on multitemporal appraisal of remote sensing data. During 1994, 1995 and 1996 strong efforts were made to model rice crop growth and development, to evaluate the geobiophysical factors limiting the optimal yield, and to establish the soil-plant relationships and reflectance. During the return grant. the thematic mapping pattern spatial analysis together with the rice production modeling will specify a landuse management optimization. Finally a geographical information system of the study area with all the data collected will be developed, where the environmental variables and their interrelations will be evaluated.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
