Objective
Research objectives and content
My main research objective is seeking to identify the nature of the dark galactic halos, with particular emphasis on baryonic candidates. The interpretation of the AGAPE microlensing results towards M31 will give new key-elements. I also plan to investigate others alternatives for baryonic dark matter. In parallel I will take part to forthcoming AGAPE observations towards M31. (55%)
Surface brightness fluctuations on ellipticals or bulges could be measured on existing data (AGAPE, HST). A distance estimate could be deduced using stellar population models and contribute to the Ho deter- mination. (20%)
During my thesis work I have discovered a large number of very red stars. The identification of these stars could allow to extract possible new informations on stellar physics. (25%)
Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
The objective of this training is to study direct and indirect theoretical implications of microlensing surveys, using my expertise on observational aspects and my access to the data. The main benefit is to enlarge my field of research, engage international collaborations and keep contact with french people. With the approach outlined in the research programme, we should be able to identify the nature of the halo dark matter. In parallel new results are also expected from the variable stars and SBF projects.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
