Objective
Research objectives and content
The principal aim of the project is to carry out research in the subject of random surfaces and random higher dimensional manifolds. This is a study of mathematical models which have applications in many branches of physics ranging from biophysics to quantum gravity. The plan is to study a par-ticular class of theories which are rele- vant for quantum chromodynamics and quantum gravity. These are the so-called gonihedric theories with an extrinsic curvature dependent action functional. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
The applicant plans to give a series of lectures in his field of expertise aimed at introducing advanced graduate students and non-experts to the subject of discretized geometrical quantum field theories. Links with industry / industrial relevance (22)
